Real Alaska Wedding: Nick & Paul's O'Malley's on the Green Wedding in Anchorage

Some weddings are elegant. Some weddings are fun. And every once in a while, you get a wedding day that is the perfect combination of relaxed, joyful, and unforgettable. Nick and Paul's beautiful celebration at O'Malley's on the Green in Anchorage, Alaska was exactly that.

Surrounded by approximately 150 of their closest friends and family, Nick and Paul celebrated their marriage in a way that felt completely true to who they are—laid-back, full of laughter, and centered around the people they love most.

From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this day had been thoughtfully planned from beginning to end. A huge part of that was thanks to Paul's mother, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help bring their vision to life. Combined with the incredible coordination and expertise of Sami Jo of SL Creative, the entire day flowed seamlessly, allowing Nick and Paul to simply enjoy every moment together.

The Alaska weather also decided to cooperate, giving us one of those rare summer days that photographers dream about. The skies offered just enough cloud coverage to keep everyone comfortable while keeping the rain away—a perfect backdrop for an outdoor celebration.

One of my favorite parts of the day was spending time with Nick and Paul during portraits. These two fully embraced the moment, practicing their best runway struts and perfecting the dramatic dip they planned for the end of their ceremony. Their willingness to laugh, be themselves, and have fun made photographing them an absolute blast. We even managed to "borrow" a golf cart for a few playful portraits around the property, which quickly became some of my favorite images from the day.

As the evening continued, the celebration only grew louder and more energetic. Guests enjoyed delicious food, an open bar, and incredible music provided by 907 Entertainment—easily one of the best DJs around. The dance floor stayed packed as family and friends celebrated the newlyweds well into the evening.

The reception also included several heartfelt toasts from Liesel, Jack, and Nick's mother, Natasha. Their speeches were filled with touching memories, stories from Nick and Paul's childhoods, and, of course, a few funny and slightly embarrassing moments that had everyone laughing through happy tears.

Nick and Paul shared a beautiful first dance before each taking to the dance floor once more to dance with their mothers—a sweet reminder that weddings celebrate not only the couple, but the families who have supported them along the way.

In a move that perfectly reflected their easygoing personalities, the grooms quietly slipped away to cut their cake together, sharing a sweet bite without any cake smashing involved.

As the night came to a close, Nick and Paul were surrounded by the people who love them most for a heartfelt sendoff, ending an incredible day exactly as it began—with love, laughter, and so much joy.

Nick and Paul, thank you for allowing me to be a part of such an amazing celebration. Your wedding day was a beautiful reflection of your relationship, and I wish you both a lifetime filled with laughter, adventure, and countless happy memories together.
