A Garden Wedding Full of Sunshine, Laughter, and Love on the Little Su

Some weddings just feel like sunshine—and Amalia and Ryan’s garden-themed wedding on June 15 was exactly that. Held on a close family friend’s private compound along the Little Susitna River, their day was overflowing with love, laughter, and the kind of personalized touches that make a wedding unforgettable.

These two first met at work and quickly discovered they had a playful connection. According to Amalia, one of their favorite shared quirks is how Ryan constantly turns her sentences into spontaneous serenades. “We laugh every time,” she shared. And Ryan? He can’t help but smile every time he sees Amalia bundled up in five layers of blankets—even when the thermostat reads a cozy 68 degrees. That kind of fun, light-hearted love was woven into every part of their day.

The celebration began with Amalia getting ready in the family’s cozy cabin, surrounded by her closest friends and loved ones. Her sons, Cody and Logan, walked her down the aisle—a moment filled with emotion, love, and strength. The ceremony took place under a stunning arch built from driftwood and adorned with fresh flowers, lovingly created by Ryan and his friends. With the sun blazing and temperatures soaring over 80 degrees, the setting felt more like a summer dream than an ordinary Alaskan afternoon.

Their shared love of gardening and the outdoors came to life in every thoughtful detail. The reception took place in a transformed family shop, beautifully decorated with fresh blooms, sage and dusty rose accents, and charming birdhouses that nodded to their passion for nature. It felt like stepping into a secret garden—one filled with stories, music, and heartfelt memories.

Throughout the night, friends and family shared childhood stories, toasted to their future, and honored Amalia’s father, whose presence was deeply felt in every moment. And true to their karaoke-loving selves, Amalia and Ryan serenaded one another and their guests—laughing, singing, and dancing their way into married life.

Their favorite date nights might take them to Alyeska, with dinners at Double Musky and strolls around the mountain, but this day—surrounded by community, nature, and music—was something even more special. A true reflection of who they are: playful, kind, a little sentimental, and completely in love.
