A Perfectly Timed Alaska Surprise Proposal for Andrei & Margo

Some proposals come together quickly. Others take careful planning, trust, and a whole lot of patience — especially during an Alaska rainy season. Andrei’s surprise proposal to Margo was one of those moments where every detail mattered, and every email and phone call helped bring his vision to life.

From the very first message, Andrei knew what he wanted: a beautiful, somewhat private spot, surrounded by Alaska’s wild landscape. Over multiple emails and calls, we talked through travel plans, timing, locations, and backup options — knowing full well that August weather in Alaska loves to keep us on our toes. As their trip brought them from Anchorage toward Seward and eventually Denali National Park, we landed on a super secret location near Hatcher Pass, perfectly tucked away and bursting with summer color.

In true Alaska fashion, the weather tested us right up until the very last moment. It poured for a solid 24 hours, and even continued raining until about 30 minutes before the proposal. I arrived early, geared up head-to-toe in full rain protection, quietly hiding in the bushes and waiting. Then — just in time — the rain stopped. The clouds lingered, but the storm gave us a break when it mattered most.

Surrounded by the Alaskan wilderness and blooming fireweed, Andrei got down on one knee — just the two of them, no crowds, no distractions. And of course, Margo said “yes!”.

Afterward, we celebrated their adventurous love with a short hike along the Hatcher Pass trails and the Little Susitna River, capturing candid, joy-filled moments that felt true to who they are. Rain or shine, this proposal was a perfect reminder that sometimes the most unforgettable moments happen when everything almost doesn’t go according to plan — and then does.
