Michael & Hannah’s Veil and Vine Wedding | Palmer, Alaska
Some wedding days are loud and bustling. Others are quiet, intentional, and rooted deeply in connection. Michael and Hannah’s wedding on August 23rd at Veil and Vine in Palmer, Alaska was beautifully the latter — a day that felt less like a production and more like a genuine celebration of two best friends choosing each other.
The morning began with partly cloudy skies and just enough uncertainty to keep everyone glancing upward. There was rain in the forecast, but as so often happens in Alaska, the weather had its own plans. Right on cue, the clouds softened and the skies cleared just in time for one of the most emotional moments of the day — their first look.
From Friends to Forever
Michael and Hannah’s love story began as a friendship. There’s something incredibly special about couples who build their relationship on knowing one another deeply before romance even enters the picture, and that foundation was evident all day long. Their interactions were natural, easy, and full of quiet laughter — the kind that doesn’t need an audience.
Michael proposed to Hannah during a trip to Japan, at Osaka Castle — a moment that perfectly reflects their shared love for experiences, creativity, and doing things a little differently. As a couple, they love sushi nights, gaming together, painting, and spending cozy evenings at home with their cats. Their idea of a perfect date night? Pizza and couch co-oping a brand new video game — and honestly, that energy carried straight through their wedding day.
A Calm, Meaningful Wedding Day at Veil and Vine
Both Michael and Hannah got ready onsite at Veil and Vine, keeping the day relaxed and seamless. Hannah’s hair and makeup were done by Beauty by Kat, and she wore a gown from Anderson’s Bridal that felt timeless and elegant without being overdone.
Before the ceremony, the couple chose to share a first look, allowing them to slow down, breathe, and actually be together before the rest of the day unfolded. With the skies clearing above them, it felt like the perfect moment — quiet, emotional, and grounded.
Their ceremony was intimate, with around 50 guests, and officiated by long time friend Leilani. Hannah was walked down the aisle by her brother, a meaningful detail that added to the emotional weight of the moment. The ceremony itself was simple and heartfelt — exactly what they had been most looking forward to.
Fun, Candid, and Full of Laughter
Michael and Hannah wanted their wedding photos to feel fun and candid, and most importantly, to show that they are best friends first. That intention shaped every part of the day. There was no pressure to perform or pose excessively — instead, we focused on movement, connection, and letting moments unfold naturally.
After the ceremony, they stepped away for a few quiet portraits together, giving them space to laugh, hold each other, and soak it all in. When asked what their one dream photo would be if they could only keep one, their answer was simple:
“Of us holding each other laughing.”
And that perfectly sums up their day.
A Celebration That Felt True
With a buffet-style reception, a photo booth, and their closest people surrounding them, Michael and Hannah’s wedding never tried to be anything it wasn’t. It was genuine, relaxed, and deeply personal — a celebration built around love, friendship, and shared joy.
Veil and Vine provided a stunning backdrop with its gardens and mountain views, proving once again why it’s such a beautiful venue for Palmer and Alaska weddings, rain or shine.
Michael and Hannah, your day was a joy to witness and photograph. Thank you for trusting me to capture your story — exactly as it is.
